What is airliebeach.com?

Island Accommodation
Which islands can you book for?
All of them! We get the best local rates on all the island retreats and resorts in the Whitsundays. Hamilton Island Resort, South Molle Island, Daydream Island, Club Crocodile or Peppers Palm Bay Resort on Long Island, Club Med on Lindeman and of course the prestigious Hayman Island Resort.
Who goes to the islands?
Families, couples and singles. All the islands offer a range of accommodation suitable for most walks of life.
What can we do on the islands?
On all islands there is a range of watersports, dining and leisure activities and day cruises available. If there is a particular activity you enjoy ask which would be the best island for you.
How do I get to the islands?
The most common transport to most of the islands is via launch from Shute Harbour. Shute Harbour is located about 10km out of Airlie Beach. There is a very frequent local bus service operated from Airlie to Shute Harbour by Whitsunday Transit. Alternatively, whitsunday.com can organise very reasonably priced scenic flights from Airlie Beach to your chosen island. If you’re flying into Hamilton Island Airport, you can access most other islands by ferry.
Mainland Accommodation
Do you need to book in advance?
While there are many accommodation places in Airlie Beach, we strongly suggest you do book your accommodation in advance. Especially if travelling during school holidays or long weekends.
Are there ever discounted rates on accommodation in Airlie Beach?
Yes, many of the hotels and resorts do have standby rates, usually within 72 hours of arrival. As we are located in Airlie Beach we are always well aware of specials that may be available and can often make suggestions to our clients accordingly. Also, we can often organise discounts for group bookings or extended stays.
Is the accommodation centrally located or will I require a vehicle to get into Airlie Beach?
There are many accommodation options located very centrally to Airlie Beach. However, we can often get slightly cheaper rates in skirting areas so you may want to enquire about those if you do have a car.
What type of accommodation is there in Airlie Beach?
As Airlie Beach has such a diverse range of visitors it has come to have an equally varied range of accommodation options. There is an abundance of hostels, 3, 4 and 5 star hotels, motels, self contained apartments and resorts. We can cater to almost any accommodation budget and requirement. Being the local Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre, we have a good knowledge of the accommodation options in Airlie.
Bareboat Charters
What type of boats are available for charter?
There are small yachts for suitable for couples up to large catamarans for groups or families. For those that are not ‘sailors’ there are motor cruisers as well.
Where do the charters start from?
The majority of charters start and finish from Airlie Beach. We can also arrange for a relocation to Hamilton Island.
What can we do while we are on charter?
You will be able to stop at secluded beaches, snorkel destinations or island resorts. The moorings at islands resorts will incur a fee.
What are the extra costs?
Provisioning, fuel, insurance and Marine Park Tax. Provisioning can be pre ordered or you can go shopping on the day. Fuel is pay as you go, the motor vessels will incur a fuel bond. Insurance is dependent on the vessel you take and Marine Park Tax is $20.00 per person
What is included in a bareboat charter?
A basic charter vessel comes with dingy, snorkeling equipment, linen, CD player, all maps of the area, radio and a fully equiped galley.
Can I sail even though I don’t have any experience?
Yes, but we will recommend taking a skipper for the first day. During your briefing with operators on the first day they will go over all the aspects of the vessel. If you do not feel confident or are a little worried, a sail guide can be organised on the day.

The cost of your sailing trip usually covers your meals, accommodation (either on the vessel or on an island), your snorkeling equipment, a visit to the world famous Whitehaven Beach, coral reef snorkeling, bush walking in some of our well renowned national parks and of course sailing in some of the best conditions Australia has to offer! Some of the vessels can include activities like: free scuba diving; wakeboarding; beach volleyball; kite surfing; Great Barrier Reef coral viewing, tube riding and the list goes on!
Can I participate in the sailing?
On all trips you have the opportunity to participate in sailing your chosen vessel. However, while you are encouraged to join in the fun of hoisting the sail or taking the helm, you are also more than welcome to relax on the deck and let the crew do all the work. If the sailing really takes your interest we can also discuss options for gaining your sailing accreditation in the Whitsundays.
But I have never sailed before, can I join a sailing trip?
Yes, you don’t need any sailing or boating experience to enjoy the Whitsunday sailing adventures. We have access to over 70 crewed sailing vessels to suit all tastes.
