British Defender
British Defender is a high tech Whitbread Around The World Racing
Maxi that was raced by the British Armed Services during the
1989/90 Around the World Race. It is an 83ft Maxi Yacht with
a Sloop design.
Built of Carbon Fibre, features include a huge 115ft mast, race
grinding winch towers and over 6ft of headroom below deck.
Since this maxi was converted into a Whitsunday Charter Maxi
yacht in 2001, she runs a 3-day/2night trip departing Thursdays
and Mondays. Taking up to 26 guests, this trip is suited to
people who want a Maxi-racing adventure cruise!
British Defender has turned heads since the day that the yacht
was named by the Duke of Edinburgh on London’s Thames River.
Today she is still turning heads after a 3500 man-hour refit
in 2001. The amount of headroom on this yacht adds to comfortable
live-aboard quarters below deck. Single berths and double berths
are available, there are also 3 showers and toilets and a dining/lounge
area, all in an open plan layout.
This yacht will take you to all the best destinations in the
Whitsundays including the gorgeous Whitehaven Beach and most
colourful snorkelling areas. Included in your trip is all snorkelling
gear and tuition, 3 meals per day, courtesy bus transfers from
accommodation to the boat, bed linen and bath towels and a FREE
crew t-shirt.
Vegetarians can be catered for on request.
Diving is available during the trip as the British Defender
can rendezvous with a dive connection.
